Phareodus was a genus of freshwater fish from the Eocene to the Oligocene of Australia, Europe and North America, with an oval outline, a small head, and slightly pointed snout. Diplomystus is an extinct genus of freshwater clupeomorph fish distantly related to modern-day extant herrings, alewives, and sardines. Knightia is an extinct genus of bony fish that lived in the fresh water lakes and rivers of North America and Asia during the Eocene epoch. A small schooling fish, Knightia made an abundant food source for larger Eocene predators. Quarried from Mosaic Lake and unearthed by hand, this striking mural is comprised of a 16.25″ Phareodus encaustus, a 11.5″ Diplomystus dentatus and two Knightia eocaena.

A spectacular setting of Eocene fossils, this fossil table includes a 9.5” Phareodus, a 5.5” Diplomystus, a 5” Priscacara, and a 5” Knightia. The tabletop has been hand polished multiple times to bring out the richness of its color, depth, and patina, and a sealer hand-applied to protect the stone from staining.
